Hand Fracture Fixation
In some instances, hand fractures (broken bones in the hand) require surgical intervention to return the bones to the right position in order to make them stable and promote proper healing. Fractures requiring surgical intervention usually involve open fractures or fractures that break through the skin as a result of trauma. Specialized hardware, including wires, screws or plates, are used to hold the fractured bones in place.
Depending on the severity of the fracture, hand therapy may be needed to regain full use and range of motion. Dr. Mac Moore works closely with the Community Hospital Outpatient Hand Therapy Center team to provide a complete continuum of care.
